Landscape Varieties Serial Number Reference There are surely a few more we haven’t encountered yet, and we welcome collectors to share any new discoveries. Presented below, we define all currently known varieties with pictures, serial numbers and mintage estimates. Also, important to note, is that a good percentage of these bars were melted over the years. Nearly one-third of these bars were of the common extruded 9th series ‘C’ variety, with the balance divided between 30+ varieties over a span of 20+ years in the United States and Canada, rendering these bars highly collectible.
With exception of these very limited Legacy Ingots illustrated below, Engelhard 5oz examples were considered standard production bars, yet only about 90,000 5oz bars were produced in total. You will see below how rudimentary and varied the stamping methods were on these early examples, and it is this raw and classic appeal that many collectors find so alluring.
